Beer styles in plain English

You do not need a BJCP card. Lager and pilsner are usually clean and cold. Wheat beers are softer. IPA leans bitter or juicy depending on the hops. Stout and porter are darker; they are not automatically heavy. Sour and mixed-fermentation beers are their own lane. If you do not like tart, say so. Tap lists change. A brewery listing is a place to ask, not a frozen medal case.
