What ABV actually means

ABV is alcohol by volume. Proof in the U.S. is twice the ABV. A 40% bottle is 80 proof. Barrel proof whiskey can sit in the 50s and 60s. Beer is usually 4–8%. Wine often 11–15%. Higher ABV is not automatically better. It is more concentrated. Ice, water, and food change the experience. A cocktail at 30% in a four-ounce glass is not the same as a 5% beer pint. We show ABV when a source provides it. We will not guess.
